Happy Birthday Mr. B

Dear Beckett,

I think I was more excited about your first birthday than I have ever been about any of my birthdays.  Not to say that there weren't tears - because I just can't believe how fast your babyhood has gone, but I really couldn't wait for you to see your presents and have a day filled with fun things to do.

You woke up bright and early at 6:00 am.  After a quick diaper change and nursing, we showed you the living room where all of your new presents were.  We thought the ball pit would be a hit, but you were a little unsure...

But you LOVED the basketball goal.  You are a just a little too small to reach the hoop on your own, but you sure did try.  Dad helped you though.

Trying to throw it on your own....

We were so impressed that you understood where to put the ball.

After awhile you got a little more used to the ball pit.

After a fun morning of playing and Dad's famous pancake breakfast you took a long nap.  Then we headed off in the car to Ft. Worth.

We stopped and chatted with the cowboys.

You loved the big "dogs."

We ate at a hamburger restaurant for lunch.  We ordered a kids meal hamburger for you and you gobbled the meat right up!  Have I told you how proud this makes your dada?

We got a quick family pic right before the cattle drive.

Big dogs!!

We had a fun time in Fort Worth and can't wait to take you back.

When we got home we had some more eating to do.

Yes, I KNOW your candle is pink.  I am sorry.  It was all we had...

Hands just slow you down.  Might as well go face first!

Lucy thought the cake was pretty delicious too!

You didn't go too crazy like we thought you might.  Maybe you are more like your dad, who doesn't have a big sweet tooth?

After cake we took a quick bath and then hopped in the car for our week long trip to Oklahoma.  More on that soon!

We love you, sweet boy.  Happy birthday!!

Love,
Mom

birthday pics

The day before B's birthday I knew I had to do my own little unofficial birthday photo session.  I love taking pics of my boy!  This was just in our front yard.  We had gone outside to pick grass and look at airplanes...

We waited until Guy was done with work and the evening lighting was a little better.  I was prepared and had painted a cheapie footstool and chalkboard as props.

It was actually pretty hard for him to stand on his own and balance the chalkboard, but he did pretty well.  There was just no way I could get him to look at me though.

How cute are his hands on his legs?

"Serious Beckett"

This one cracks me up.  He was practicing snorting.

Looking at airplanes.  Love those eyes!!

I had so much fun doing this - and my boys are quite the troopers for putting up with me and my picture  obsessions.

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Dear Beckett: 50, 51, and 52 Weeks

Dear Beckett,

Well, 52 weeks is here!  In just one day you will be a year old.  My sweet boy...

That was the very first time I saw you.  The first thing I did was give you a big kiss!

And now here you are giving me kisses.  You give the very best kisses - really big wet ones right on the lips!

Since you are hitting such a big milestone, I thought I would give a list of all the things that make you, YOU!

Weight - 22 pounds
Diaper Size: 3 or 4, depending on the brand
Clothing Size: Generally you wear 18 month sizes, but some separates are 12 months
Physical Description: Bright blue eyes, lots of very light brown (Almost blonde) hair, average weight/height, long torso, size 3.5 shoe, three freckles, eight teeth, one dimple on the right

Physical Development: You have just started to travel around furniture.  You pull up on everything, but aren't getting to a standing position without something to hold on to.  You will stand on your own for 10-15 seconds and then loose your balance.  You walk if we hold your hand or you have a walker.  You are a very fast crawler and went up a flight of stairs on your own today.   (We don't have stairs, so you have never tried before.)

Words: You say dog probably 300 times a day.  You say mama quite a bit too - especially when you are tired, hurt, or want something.  When you love a food you say good and yum, yum, mmmmmm, mmmm,mmmm..... etc.  You have also said ball and bye bye, but you haven't said them in a long time.

Personality: Where do I begin? Social, independent, loving, easy going, inquisitive, playful, the list goes on and on

Favorite Books:  Right now your very favorite book is the Caterpillar Book.  You also love the "funny faces" books that have bright primary colors and lights/sounds.  Just this past week you have really gotten into looking carefully at every picture on the page and slowly turning the pages one by one.  You are still obsessed with putting one book under each hand and pushing your books all over the house.

Reading your Caterpillar book (nakie reading is the best!)

Favorite Games: You love to play chase!  In a big voice we say, "I'm going to get you," and you squeal with laughter and crawl off as fast as you can.  We also play catch multiple times a day.  If there is a ball you will "shake, shake, shake it" then throw it.  You also love peek-a-boo.

Favorite things to do: You love to be outside and look at the airplanes, pick at grass, and try to get as dirty as possible (really, you do).  You also love to get wet - swimming, baths, and splashing all make you laugh.  We don't let you watch T.V., so you don't have any favorite shows.

Picking grass...

Favorite toys: Fisher Price Little People alphabet truck, Fisher Price push and go elephant, Leap Frog drum, balls with rattles or chimes inside

Digging in your toy box...

Favorite Foods: Meat (all kinds), bread, avocado, blueberries, mango, kiwi, sweet potatoes, mum mums, puffs, yo baby yogurt

We just started giving you blueberries a couple of days ago.  After having a ton of ham, some cheese, and a yogurt, I offered blueberries.  As you can tell, you LOVE them.   Are you practicing for the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest???

We love you so much, sweet boy.  And we can't wait to celebrate your first birthday tomorrow!!

Love,
Mom
