What I'm Lovin' Right Now

I have been thinking lately of all of the wonderful things in my life - our family, friends, home, etc.  Being a parent has made me appreciate so much more.  But, sometimes it's the little things in life that really help ice the cake!  So, I thought I would share a few things I am loving right now!

La Croix Coconut Water: I was introduced to this at a friend's house over the weekend and it is de-lic-ious!  I have been a big fan of La Croix for a couple of years now, but hadn't ever seen the coconut flavor before (apparently it's available at Target).  It's the beach in a can!

Pinterest: Yes, I am miles behind everyone else on this.  I'm sure you all know about this awesome website, but in case you don't..... it's an organized techie's dream come true.  Basically if you find a picture of something you like on the internet (think home decor, recipes, craft ideas, books), you "pin" it to your virtual board so that you don't forget about it!  And you can see your friends' pins too.  Follow me at http://pinterest.com/mayom/  It's hours and hours of wasted time fun.

Mac Computers:  Again, I am miles and MILES behind on this.  But I just got my very first Mac (actually my very first computer that is MINE) and I love it.  Love, love, love it!  I have started taking the one-to-one classes and am enjoying learning new things.  Can "computing" be my new mom hobby?

Couponing:  I will never be one of those crazy extreme couponers, but I do love a good deal.  And I really love to save $$$.  I went to a coupon workshop at the library a few weeks ago and learned about this website - http://www.mydallasmommy.com/.  She lives in Flower Mound, so it's nice to have someone do all the work in finding the local deals for me!

If I Could Keep You Little by Marianne Richmond: Cori gave me this book when she first came down to meet Beckett.  It's such a sweet book.  As time is flying by and Beckett is growing like a weed, I can get so sad because he is changing faster than I can keep up with.  Don't get me wrong, I do love watching these changes and cannot wait for him to grow and we can interact with him more!  This book is a great reminder to look forward to all that he will do someday.  My favorite line is "If I could keep you little, I'd keep you close to me.  But then I'd miss you growing into who you're meant to be!"

Yummy Treats:  I know I wrote about these before, but the Cinnamon Chip Scones are to die for.  They might have been my dinner last night.  And my breakfast.  And my breakfast this morning...... I am also loving iced coffee.  I have the Pioneer Woman to blame for this. I actually have a number of food obsessions that I would like to blame on her.  I swear that anytime she posts a new recipe I instantly decide that I .  must . make . it .  NOW!

And, finally, I am LOVING this picture.  It makes me so happy.

What are you loving right now?

Dear Beckett: 9 Weeks

Dear Beckett,

We had a great week in Oklahoma City!  You did fine in the car ride, especially for your very first trip.  While we were there you got lots of loving and attention.

You played with Hayden and Auntie Cori.

You also got to see Aunt Aimee and your sweet cousins Allison and Colin.

You loved having books read to you.

You were even able to enjoy the outdoors for a short while.  It's been so hot that you have hardly been outside.  You loved it!

We are learning more and more about you each day.  For instance, you LOVE music.  It calms you down and makes you so happy.  Gigi and Thunder had lots of fun playing songs for you.  I wonder if you will play the piano or guitar with your long fingers?  You also love having your diaper off!  Too bad you usually decide that's a good time to relieve yourself!  Haha!

One of the best things to happen this week was........

You LAUGHED!

Mom and Dad were sitting on the sofa with you, working hard to make you smile.  You gave us a huge grin and then a "heh, heh, heh."  It made our day!  We keep trying to get you to do it again, but no luck so far.

We love you.

Love,
Mom

Dear Beckett: 8 Weeks

Dear Beckett,

How is it possible that you are already two months old?  (Well, technically two months on the 23rd of the month, but you are eight weeks!)  This day is bittersweet - I love watching you grow and learn, but time is passing too quickly.  You have lost most of the newborn look and now look like a sweet, happy baby!

This week you showed your grumpy side a bit more!  Ha!  Your "fussy" times are usually just when you get hungry or have a dirty diaper and then they pass quickly.  So far you haven't had any meltdowns.  I brag all the time about what an EASY and laid back baby you are.

We have been working on tummy time a lot lately.  Your neck is so much stronger, but you still lose control of it after awhile.

You still LOVE time on your play mat.  You often will spend an hour listening to the music and playing with the dangling toys.  Sometimes I think you even get tired of being held and just want to be put down so you can play and kick your legs!  Such a boy :).

Your dad was traveling for most of the week.  You received your very first souvenirs :).

When he got home all he wanted to do was hold and cuddle you.  He missed you so much!  As soon as you saw him you gave the biggest grins.

Already several of your 0-3 month size clothes are getting too small!  They seem to be plenty wide, but too short.  I wonder if you will be tall like your dad?

I finally bought a new bath tub for you and you like it SO much better!  NO tears!  This made momma very happy.  I can't wait for you to start splashing and playing in the water.

Today is a big day for a few reasons.  First, you will start taking your daily antibiotics.  They will help prevent you from getting an infection.  The other reason why today is a big day is that you are going on your very first road trip!  We are heading to Oklahoma for a whole week.  So far the farthest you have traveled is to Grapevine, where you were born.  I hope you like to travel, because your grandparents sure do want you to visit often!

We love you.

Mom

Dear Beckett: 7 Weeks

Dear Beckett,

You have been all SMILES this week!  Your sweet little grin usually starts off lopsided then suddenly is a huge, mouth open, tongue out, smile.

It's contagious.

You are changing in other ways too.  Just this week you began batting at the dangling toys on your play mat (which you LOVE).  In just a few short days you have really increased your hand coordination.

You get so excited that you also starting making your first play noises.  You make a lot of grunts and coos when you are on your play mat!

You are fitting into more and more of your 0-3 month size clothes.  You wore shorts for the first time this week!  Good thing, because the temperatures have been over 100 degrees.

They were a little big :).

You are also in "big boy" pajamas, but you still wear gowns too.

You continue to be a good eater.  You eat 8-10 times a day.  At night you eat around 10:30 pm, 2:30 am, and then again at 5:30 am - give or take an hour or so.  You usually are ready to start your day around 6:00am, but momma likes for you to try to sleep a little longer :).

This week you celebrated your first holiday!  For the 4th we went over to Zach and Charlsi's house to watch the fireworks.  You, of course, were sacked out asleep but it worked perfectly because you could stay inside with the air conditioning and we could see the Flower Mound fireworks display from the yard.

We also had a few special visitors this week.  On Monday Uncle Alex and Aunt Jessica came to visit.  We went out to lunch and then shopping.  Naturally, you slept the whole time and just woke up once to eat.

Thunder and Gigi also came for a visit.  Gigi gave you lots of snuggles!

We love you.

Under Construction

Feeding Mr. Beckett requires a lot of time sitting on my rump.  I stare at him and play with his toes, watch T.V., read a little, stare at him and play with toes, daydream about beach vacations, stare at him and play with toes..... you get the idea.  I also play around on the computer whenever Guy's laptop is available (note: need personal computer ASAP!).

So, I have been perusing all the wonderful blogs out there and decided I have a bit of blog envy.  It's time for a little spruce up.  I have no idea what I am doing and no clear direction, but I am trying to make the blog a bit fancier.  I am also unable to comment on any other blogs.... what's that about?

Bear with me.... "Life on Autumn Trail" is temporarily under construction!

Birthday Fun

Last week I had a great few days celebrating my birthday.  The big 2-9....yikes!  The countdown is on to thirty.  Ugh.

Wednesday night I went out to dinner with a few of my work (well, I guess old work) friends.  We went to the new Mi Cocina in Highland Village.  I love me some Mexican Food!  And I enjoyed a couple of Mexican beers, which was a fun treat.

Thursday night was super fun.  Beckett had his VERY first real babysitters!  We took him over to the Stoner's house and their neighbors, Jennifer and Sarah, watched all three of the kiddos.  Before we left for dinner we snapped a few family pics...which was nice since that hadn't happened since Beckett was 5 days old.  Yikes!

Guy, Kevin, Emily and I went downtown to Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, Five-Sixty.  It's at the very top of Reunion Tower and it spins!  We had awesome views of the city.

On Saturday my family came in to town.  It was great because it was the WHOLE clan, which rarely happens.  Even Nanny made the trip :).

We introduced her to Babe's Chicken and she declared that it was the most delicious food she has had in years- especially the biscuits and coconut cream pie.  Can't argue with that.

But, one of the highlights of my day was spending time with my little guy and getting some big dimply grins from him.  It was one of the first times that I could "get" him to smile for me.

Cheers to 29 and a wonderful year ahead!
