I think I was more excited about your first birthday than I have ever been about any of my birthdays. Not to say that there weren't tears - because I just can't believe how fast your babyhood has gone, but I really couldn't wait for you to see your presents and have a day filled with fun things to do.
You woke up bright and early at 6:00 am. After a quick diaper change and nursing, we showed you the living room where all of your new presents were. We thought the ball pit would be a hit, but you were a little unsure...
But you LOVED the basketball goal. You are a just a little too small to reach the hoop on your own, but you sure did try. Dad helped you though.
Trying to throw it on your own....
We were so impressed that you understood where to put the ball.
After awhile you got a little more used to the ball pit.
After a fun morning of playing and Dad's famous pancake breakfast you took a long nap. Then we headed off in the car to Ft. Worth.
We stopped and chatted with the cowboys.
You loved the big "dogs."
We ate at a hamburger restaurant for lunch. We ordered a kids meal hamburger for you and you gobbled the meat right up! Have I told you how proud this makes your dada?
We got a quick family pic right before the cattle drive.
Big dogs!!
We had a fun time in Fort Worth and can't wait to take you back.
When we got home we had some more eating to do.
Yes, I KNOW your candle is pink. I am sorry. It was all we had...
Hands just slow you down. Might as well go face first!
Lucy thought the cake was pretty delicious too!
You didn't go too crazy like we thought you might. Maybe you are more like your dad, who doesn't have a big sweet tooth?
After cake we took a quick bath and then hopped in the car for our week long trip to Oklahoma. More on that soon!
We love you, sweet boy. Happy birthday!!
Love,
Mom
