First Momma's Day

Mother's Day... it's a little surreal to me that I get to participate in this holiday.  Me?  A Momma?  Even after a year 50.5 weeks of Mr. B it still seems strange that I am a parent.

But then again it doesn't at all - I have always wanted to be a momma.  And I am lucky enough to share in raising the most wonderful son a person could ask for.

For Mother's Day Guy declared that I got to do whatever I wanted.  Sounds good to me :).  Here's a recap of our day....

First things first - coffee and our new favorite reality shocker show "Ducky Dynasty."  Have you seen it? It's pretty entertaining.  Then I set off for a long run (SEVEN miles... wahoo!).  I came home to a clean kitchen, beautiful calla lilies, and a handmade stepping stone for my garden.  B helped me open my cards.

Can you see the sweat on my hat?  Yuck!!

We then headed off to my favorite breakfast obsession, Fuzzy Tacos.  You  just can't beat a potato, egg, and cheese taco!

We all relaxed around the house for awhile.  Beckett played with the dogs and then took a good nap and Guy and I watched the Justin Beiber movie.  Yeah, I know.... and I actually liked it.  Don't judge.

It was a beautiful day, so we took Beckett on a wagon ride.  He was all smiles and just loved it!

And, since it was really "my" day, we did what I love... a picnic at the park!  I love the Grapevine Botanical park and would go there every day if I could.

Dinner was yummy.  I had a salad, which is about my favorite food to eat.  Guy even snuck some Chardonnay into the picnic basket for me!

I tried the self timer to get a family pic, but it's way out of focus!

We had such a nice time at the park.

There was some baby wrestling,

and a tickle monster,

a "photo session,"

and swinging!

The day was capped off with Culver's chocolate malts and a good back rub.  You can't beat that!  Thank you Guy and Beckett for making me feel so special!

And to my own momma - I love you so much and wish we could have spent the day with you too!  You are truly the kindest person I know.  We love you!

Dear Beckett: 47, 48, and 49 Weeks

Dear Beckett,

How do I even sum up the last three weeks?  At week 47 we jetted off to California for your first plane ride, trip to the beach, zoo visit, and Disneyland excursion.  You missed many naps, had strange travel food (including McDonalds!), and spent A LOT of time in the car seat.  But you still managed to enjoy all of the fun activities and be a very good sport.

Your two favorite activities were going to the beach and visiting the San Diego Zoo.  You absolutely loved splashing in the waves and digging in the sand!

Here is a video clip of you splashing in the waves.

At the zoo you thought all of the animals were dogs.

Now that we are home you say dog probably 100-200 times a day (no exaggeration).  You LOVE to stand by the window and yell DOOOGGGGG over and over again.

The day after we returned home from California you officially turned 11 months.  This is unreal to me.  I have been very busy planning your birthday party and purchasing some fun birthday toys for you.  There are a lot of people who can't wait to celebrate with us!

I love this picture.  I was clapping my hands, trying to get you to look at me and smile.  You think clapping is SO funny!  Just this past week you have finally starting clapping too!

Of course, I also had to do a fancier "photo shoot" with you as well.  Dada came and helped with this one and he sure can make you laugh!

You pull up to stand every chance you get.  So far you are only able to stand on your own for a couple of seconds before you lose your balance.

You are also on your knees a lot.  Dada calls this the "prairie dog."

You do the "prairie dog" a lot.

You are eating a TON of food.  You LOVE meat and are a very good eater.  You definitely inspect your food, though, and are cautious to try new fruits and vegetables.  Usually we have to eat it first to show you it tastes yummy.

I have also started the weaning process.  Since you used to only get one bottle each day (before bedtime and I would hold you), I had to teach you how to hold a bottle and do it yourself.
It makes me pretty sad - I love our cuddle times with your bottle, but you really prefer to do it yourself.

You got to see your family the other weekend.  I think they were pretty shocked at how much you had grown and how independent you are getting!

It must be pretty fun being Beckett.  You do lots of playing,

park time,

and swimming!

We are very lucky to have good friends who let us take you swimming in their pool.  It's safe to say that you love it.  And we do too!

We love you sweet boy.

Love,
Mom

MIdweek Randoms

This week is flying by!  Here are a few randoms for ya...

* Over the weekend we went to my friend Laura's wedding.  It was outdoors and truly gorgeous.  If I were to have had a traditional wedding (not go to the beach), then this is what I would have loved to do.  Perfection!

Here we are before the wedding.  I thought this was a really good picture of Guy.  He looks very "GQ" to me.

And a few at the wedding.

Laura was a gorgeous bride.

* Have you tried Yasso (?)  bars yet?  They are Greek yogurt frozen dessert bars.  For 70 calories and 9grams of protein (I think!), they are a pretty tasty treat.  I have eaten the entire box, otherwise I would give you a pic and be sure on the name/nutrition info.

* Beckett's birthday invitations should be here any day and I really, really hope that they turn out ok.  I used an etsy person to design them, then did the printing through mpix.  I have never done invitations this way, so hopefully they look nice.

*  The other night I decided to give B his bath outside, since he is loving swimming so much.  He thought it was all kinds of fun.  I was by myself, so I couldn't really manage to take pics and manage him to well.  These were the only shots I got...

* I have been reading books on my iPhone a lot lately.  I really love it for many reasons - I always have something to read right there with me, I can read in the dark, I never lose my place, and so on.  You should try it!  Just download the Amazon kindle app and go for it.  I just finished reading Moloka'i and I recommend it.
