You are officially 23 weeks old and FIVE months! The last two weeks have been a whirlwind. Two weeks ago you got your very first cold. You had the WORST runny nose. Poor baby, you couldn't breathe and sounded like Darth Vader for a solid week. Even though we knew you were miserable, you acted like your normal happy little self.
You went on your first big trip and a BIG car ride (9+ hours) to Memphis, Tennesse. Before we left, you had a quick visit from Grandmom and P-pa (he insists on being called this until you come up with your own name). They were on their way to Italy!
The next day we were off. I was nervous about the car ride and making stops, so we didn't leave until 4:30 pm so that we could do the majority of the driving during your bedtime. It worked out great and you didn't make a single peep the whole time.
We had a fantastic week in Memphis. You were SO loved on and everyone couldn't wait their turn to hold and play with you. Here you are with Great Aunt Kathy and Great Grandma.
While we were in Memphis you were busy practicing some new skills. You LOVE to stand right now. Your legs are strong and can support you well, but you need help with your balancing. The same goes with sitting upright. You can sit in the "tri-pod" position on your own for about 10 seconds or so before flopping to your side. We are working on it though!
Just this week you started to pull your knees underneath you to start the crawling position (mostly when you get frustrated). I think you are still a ways away from crawling, but you are scooting and rolling around more and more. You DO get frustrated when you can't reach your toys and especially if you can't get them into your mouth!
Speaking of putting things into your mouth.... your favorite tasty object now is your TOES! It's SO funny! You love to stick both feet in your mouth and gnaw on them. You always do it when I change your diaper.
While we were in Memphis you were the BEST BABY. You were always in a great mood, took your naps, ate at your normal times, and were happy to be dragged all around town.
It has been a different story since we have been home though..... You have definitely had a hard time getting back to your normal nap schedule, which has made you much crankier than usual. That's ok, though - we still think you are the best baby!
Here you are sleeping. We just love how you sleep with one
This week we celebrated your very first Halloween. We went to the Lewisville Halloween Festival and our little family got an embarrassing amount of attention. Everyone loved the baby hotdog and giant hotdog!
(Your Dad did get a little embarrassed at first! ha!) |
We also celebrated by going to a mom group costume party.
What a fun filled two weeks it has been! We loved getting to introduce you to the rest of your family. Everyone loves you!
Love,
Mom
