What a week! We kicked it off by going back to Dallas Children's Hospital to talk to your urologist, Dr. Bush. She had reviewed the results of the previous week's testing and shared her plan with us. In two weeks you will start a daily antibiotic. This is to help prevent urinary tract infections, which would lead to a kidney infection for you. Then, at the end of August, we go back to the hospital for another round of testing. You will have another renal sonogram and a DMSA test, which will detect the function of both kidneys. We are hoping for 50% on each side. Based on this test and your health, your doctor will decide whether to continue the antibiotics, do the ureter reimplementation surgery, or remove the right kidney.
It breaks my heart that you are facing so much. I pray everyday that you won't need surgery. But, if that's the case then I know you have an amazing doctor and you will be just fine!
While we were at the doctor's they weighed you and you are a chunky 9 pounds!!! You have gained more than 2 ounces a day.... wow! This week you started to wear size 1 diapers and are now out of your newborn clothes. Such a big boy.
On Tuesday Hadley came over for a little play date. You STARED at her the entire time! I'm sorry to say that she did not share your infatuation....it's a hard lesson to learn, but girls can play hard to get buddy!
You did hold her hand a couple of times though...
And you thought she made an excellent paci...
This is my favorite picture.
Thursday was my birthday! I turned 29. You gave me the best birthday present EVER - a whole morning of your sweet, dimpled grins. This week you have really shown that you know who I am. Most of the time I can get you to smile by giving you kisses and talking sweet to you.
Nothing on Earth makes me happier than your smile.
On Saturday we had lots of visitors. Great Nanny, Grandpa, Grandmomma, Auntie Steph, Uncle Zach and Uncle Grant all came for the day. Great Nanny, Zach and Grant finally got to meet you! Of course, you were the star of the day and everyone wanted a turn to hold you.
We all went to Babe's for lunch. Yum!
Over the rest of the weekend we just relaxed and enjoyed spending time with you. We love to laugh at your funny expressions, reflexes (our favorite, "jazz hands," is almost gone!), loud grunts, and cute sleep position.
You have stopped sleeping on your side as much and now like to sleep like this:
Whether we are giving you a bath,
trying out new things,
or just spending time together as a family.....
We love being with you.
Love,
Mom
Beckett man is getting so big! I love all your pictures. Hadley Jane likes to play hard to get, but she digs Beckett big time.
