I have always loved domestic pursuits... cooking, gardening (not that I am any good at it), decorating, and crafting have always been hobbies of mine. I think I get the crafting from my mom. Growing up, I tackled all sorts of crafts - scrapbooking, painting, faux stained glass making, sewing, card making, wreath making, cross stitching, picture frame painting, and so on. For awhile there I was REALLY into Mary Engelbreit iron on transfers with a lovely "puff paint" border around it. Yikes. Let's just say that I spent more hours at Hobby Lobby than most 13 year olds. Most of the time my mom was right there with me - we spent HOURS working on family scrapbooks. And, for the most part, scrapbooking has really been the only craft that I have kept up with. I have already been at work on a baby book for Mr. Beckett!
As soon as I learned that I was pregnant, visions of crafting projects popped in my mind. I began thinking of all of the things I could make for our little one. I decided that I would start with the art of sewing. I don't think I have touched a sewing machine in almost 10 years, but I have been busy reteaching myself the basics. I'm pretty sure I am doing it all wrong, but I am getting better.
Here's what I have done so far:
I started with the fabric applique onesies (the tie was my first) and moved on to the burp cloths. I am getting better with each try. I guess if my sewing skills don't progress, I could always rely on my puff paint shirt making for little Beckett! Ha ha!
Hummm, wonder what Guy would say about Beckett and a puff paint shirt:) Love the onesies!
