He's just as bad as his Momma....

B and I definitely have one thing in common.

A box of books can keep us happy for hours.

Although I actually prefer to READ mine, rather than EAT them.

But that's beside the point.  I'm taking pride in the fact that we could have a little bookworm.  That's a Momma's boy.

For about 45 minutes he was completely happy going through his books.  Taking them out one by one - taste testing along the way.

And that's when I realized that he made his first real "mess" in his bedroom.

It was a tornado.  And he was quite pleased with it all.

Not that he gets from his Daddy!

Clothes for the B-Man

Do you watch Two Broke Girls? In last week's episode Max's secret cupcake recipe is revealed.  She uses Duncan Heinze cake mix, with a "secret ingredient" of a tablespoon of Pillsbury mix.  No, not much of an original, but still her own creation.

Well, I am telling you this because I applied the same principle to crafting.  Mix together a few pinterest ideas together and voila!   I created a digital graphic and applied it to a onesie.  And it came out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Take a look.  Cute, huh?

And not just the baby!  Check out his outfits!  They are "Missy Originals." Ha!  Now here's how I did it.  Someone else already did all of the hard work in getting the directions written out, so just follow the links for specifics.

Your Materials:

T shirt or Onesie
Printer with plenty of ink
Transfer paper: order HERE (don't go all cheap and get the transfer paper from the Hob Lob.  This is the good stuff!)
iron

Step 1: The fun part!  Design your image.  Check out this girl's blog for directions on how to create graphics using the free website www.picnik.com.   It's super easy and fun.  You could make recipe cards, invitations, greeting cards, cake toppers, the list goes on and on.  Just be sure to save your image to your computer.

Step 2: You will now need to print your image onto the transfer paper. But here's the kicker - you MUST be sure to print it as a mirror image or else your image/writing will be backwards!  I was able to do this by checking the "Flip Horizontally" box on my printer options.

Step 3: From here on, just follow the directions included with the transfer paper.  Basically, you just iron on the image and peel the paper off.  Now if you look closely you will see some streak marks.  These were my first attempts, but I believe it is better to continually move the iron slowly, rather than stay stationary for 30 seconds or so as the directions say.  I think you will avoid streaking that way.  Also, buy a shirt/onesie that does not have any ribbing in it!

So easy!

Dear Beckett: 32 and 33 Weeks

Dear Beckett ,

You have officially turned SEVEN months.  When I was little, my mom always said she was going to pick a brick on my head to stop me from growing.  I understand now.  I say the same thing to you.

In these pictures you look like a little boy to me.  Gone is my newborn.

On New Year's Eve we went with the Stoners to the park for a picnic and pictures.  It was a fun family day.

Emily took one of my very favorite pictures of the three of us.

The weather was in the 70's and gorgeous.  I think you loved the fresh air just as much as we did!

But the BEST part of the day was putting you in the swing!  You loved, loved, loved it.  You giggled and smiled and had so much fun.  It warmed my heart.

Hadley joined in on the swinging fun.  You two were pretty cute!

In fact, you loved swinging so much that I have taken you to the park 4 or 5 times since then just to go swing.  (Hopefully Dad will get your new Christmas swing hung soon.) I am addicted to your smiles.

We also take lots of pictures at the park :).

You weigh 18.6 pounds and are 26 1/2 inches long.  I tried to carry you in the Baby Bjorn the other day and you were way too heavy.

Your hair still sticks straight up, refusing to lay down.

You love to play with your toys and hang out in your entertainment center.  You like to sit up when playing, and are being much more bold when trying to reach for toys (reaching for things that are beyond your grasp and falling to get them).  When I help you to sit up, you get SO proud of yourself when you finally push yourself up.  I love that huge smile!  One of your favorite things is to stand by the coffee table (we are there to spot you) and dig through the toy drawers.  Your balance is good, but eventually you loose strength and will fall over.  Still no crawling or scooting yet, but you will get into the "crawling position" with some help.

You are very independent and still haven't shown any "stranger danger." In fact, you seem to love to meet new people.  I can't imagine a happier baby.

Making you smile and laugh is your parent's favorite hobby.  Have I told you that you snort when you laugh hard?  These things always work: peek-a-boo, clapping our hands and helping you to clap yours, tickling under your arms/toes/legs, dancing, making funny noises ("walka walka" or hissing like a snake), butterfly kisses, doing "stretches," blowing on your tummy, playing "rough" (flying in the air, being  upside down for a second), spider fingers, singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and many more.

NO ONE can make you laugh or smile like your dad.  You light up when you see him.

Poor thing, at the beginning of last week you started to get a bad runny nose.  You are cutting your top two front teeth (they have just poked through), so we knew it was from that.  Unfortunately, it kept getting worse and was settling into your chest.  We went to Dr. Harpavat, but there's not much you can do for a cold.  Meanwhile you were hardly sleeping at night.  You could hardly breathe and coughed constantly.  After a week we took you back to Dr. Harpavat to learn that you had developed an ear infection.

Soooo.... cutting two teeth, runny nose that won't let you breathe, chest congestion with a cough, AND an ear infection?  We feel so sorry for you.  A sick baby is no fun.

And a sleepy baby that can't sleep is also no fun.

Oh, wait.... yes, even sick you are still lots of fun.

We love you.

Love,
Mom

G-Man

I told you the other week that we had gotten home from OK and I was busy watching my brother play basketball.  Well, I am finally getting around to posting the pics.

Norman High played in the Trophy Club Tournament for three days right after Christmas.  Lucky for us, Trophy Club is just a 30 minute drive away!  We took B to the first two games and he L-O-V-E-D watching the "big boys" play basketball.

I should also add that it was really, REALLY loud in there - whistles, yelling, horns, and nearly ear deafening music.

But Beckett was all smiles.

Now, I don't know much about basketball.  Or sports, really.  That whole competitiveness plus eye-hand coordination thing was never really my bag.  BUT, I have always loved watching my brothers and sister play their sports.    I have to brag about them all because they really are all truly great athletes.

Grant plays soccer and basketball.  And he is FAST.  Like really, really, really FAST.

He played so well in the tournament.  They kept winning all of the games!

Despite the winning streak excitement, there seemed to be at least one little boy who was getting very sleepy.

And, he's out!  He hasn't fallen asleep in a public place like this since he was a newborn.  And remember, it was ridiculously loud.

Still sleeping....

Sweet boy!  The good news was that Norman High had was now in the final Championship playoffs!

Here's Grant at the big game.

And then, an accident happened.  Grant and another player bumped heads.  Hard.  The game stopped, blood was everywhere, and the look on his teammates' faces was one of horror.

Meanwhile.....

As it turned out, Grant was going to need stitches.  The hit had torn the skin right above his eye.  He was a trooper, though, and even reluctantly posed for a pic before we headed off to Rapid Med.

And, did I mention.... THEY WON THE TOURNAMENT!  Way to go Norman!

Now this is on the gross side, so if you have a weak stomach stop scrolling down now.

You have been warned!

Pretty gross, huh?

Congratulations, Frankenstein.  Oops, Grant.  Proud of you!
